Toymaker of Lunenburg Sparks Creative Play

March 20, 2019 By admin Leave a Comment

Walking yellow ducks. Solid wood kitchen play sets. Classic cribbage games. From toys to play ground products to brain teasers, the Toymaker of Lunenburg creates timeless wooden toys designed to stimulate the imagination.

Founded in 1979 by Kevin Vickers, the company was bought in 2015 by a couple who were captivated by the old world charm of the toys. Ray Syvitski and Elke Uribe were parents who had developed an interest in making wooden toys. This was sparked, in part, by Ray’s work as a university educator who designed early childhood development programs to teach science.

They carry on the tradition started by Kevin Vickers, ensuring that all dyes are non-toxic, and that the woods used are harvested sustainably.
